So far observing an EIP teacher has been really fun! She is known as the "cart lady" because she doesn't have her own classroom. I can imagine that she gets annoyed with not having her own room and having to travel from classroom to classroom and pull the students out. I can tell that the students enjoy coming to see Mrs. Randall. She has a lot of patience with them and I think they can tell that she really does care about them. Sometimes we will sit in the hallway, and sometimes we will sit in this tiny closet. When we are in the hallway it is very distracting to me, so i can't imagine how distracting it can get for the students. It is especially loud in the hallways sometimes because other classes have to walk by us to get to the playground. When this happens we have to pause and wait to move on so a lot of time seems to be wasted. I can tell that Mrs. Randall really enjoys being in EIP teacher and is very passionate about it! I can't wait to be a future teacher and I hope I can be as passionate as she seems to be!

What in the world! I can only imagine how distracting and obnoxious it would be as a teacher and a student to have class in the hallway. Do they just sit on the gound? That really doesnt sound like an efficient learning environment but definiatly an interesting one to be observing. Atleast you know if you are ever in that situation when you are a teacher you will know what to do.
ReplyDeleteThis is very weird to me. I did not know that things like a "cart lady" exist. If I were Mrs. Randell I would be very annoyed with the fact that I do not have a classroom. I feel it would be difficult for the students to learn and would be very distracting. Its a good thing the students enjoy Mrs. Randell.
ReplyDeleteI think its weird not having your own classroom, but I bet she really enjoys her job. She seems like the type of person who doesn't mind the hectic ways of her job and instead finds it exciting. For me I like structure of having my own class with a set plan, and on occassions like to be sporatic. Overall, I hope your having fun with such an interesting placement.
