First Blog Post

I am a junior at Georgia Southern University and currently in the Early Childhood Education program. This semester I am a curriculum student at Claxton Elementary School. I will be observing Ms. Randall's EIP classroom. I can't wait to meet her and see what her day is like as an EIP teacher. Last semester I was a PPB student at Brooklet Elementary School. I observed Mr. Petkewich's third grade class and absolutely loved it!

  1. Hey Krista! Your dog is precious, I also have a little maltese at home named Emma. After reading your blog, I can't believe we never ran into each other. Last semester I also did my PPB at Brooklet Elementary in a third grade classroom. I loved third grade, they were so cute and impressive! Hopefully you are enjoying your placement this year, it seems like it would be interesting. Good luck this semester!

  2. Hey Krista!

I hope everything is going good for you at Claxton this semester. I have a friend who is over there in an EIP classroom as well. She seems to love it. I hope you are too. I bet an EIP classroom is a whole different ballgame but it will give you an insight into different learning environments!

  3. It's so amazing that you get to sit in on an IEP classroom. I think that I would work good with those type of students and helping them to get better scores on tests. I know that this will be a different expierence for me because I have never been inside of a IEP classroom or anything of that nature. I really hope your observation is going as you hoped it would.

  4. First of all, cute dog! Second, IEP is not all that it is cut out to be. If you can can handle IEP students, then you can handle almost anyone! IEP teachers are no joke! Anyway, I'm sure you will do well, and you might even like it. There were some good moments for me as well-- not a lot, but some :)

  5. I bet observing an IEP classroom has taught you so much about the Special Education department. I wonder if it is any different than a regular education class. I'm sure it has to be. I'm sure you will come out of it with a much greater respect for special ed teachers. Good luck Krista!

  6. Hey Krista!
I don't know how much I would like being in an IEP classroom for Curriculum. It seems like it would be hard to get information for your field compositions. Do you plan on teaching in an IEP class? I hope it all works out for you! I am sure you're learning so much!

  7. Hey Krista! I think that's neat that you are in an EIP classroom this semester, although I know it's probably difficult to do your compostitions. As far as teaching an EIP class, I have heard nothing but good things about it. My mom's a teacher and I remember for the longest time she always wanted to at least experience teaching an EIP class. I have a really good friend at Claxton Elementary that just graduated from southern last year and is a first year teacher there teaching first grade. Good luck with everything this semester! see you in class!

  8. I live in Claxton and know several of the teachers that you'll be working with. They are all super great. I hope that you learn a lot from our students and our teachers. Claxton Elementary is a great school to be observing at and working with!

  9. I am in an EIP class at Claxton Elementary School too. I am observing Mrs. Tucker. So far I love it. The school seems so relaxed, or as relaxed as it can be with CRCT coming up. I recently met Mrs. Randall this past Monday. She seemed like she was really nice and really cared about the students. That is just what these students need.
